CEREC 3D – One Visit Dentistry
CEREC, which stands for Chairside Economical Restorations of Esthetic Ceramic, is an innovative new technology that eliminates the need for temporaries and multiple visits.
We use CEREC to provide single visit dentistry with the following procedures:
- Inlays & Onlays
You no longer have to come for one visit involving messy impressions and temporary restoration pieces to wear while you wait for to a lab-manufactured product followed by a second visit for a fitting.
CEREC uses computer-assisted design (CAD) along with computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) in a revolutionary new process that can generally be completed in about an hour. This technology is used “chairside” which means everything is done by us while you are with us at the office. The ceramic restorations that are tailor made for you are metal free and colored to match the natural appearance of your teeth. The result is a tooth restoration that is natural, fully functional, and stronger than other types of restorations with a lifespan of 15+ years.
The CEREC Process
CEREC technology with its CAD / CAM design and manufacturing functions allows us to design and mill your customized restoration in a single visit.
We start with an examination of your dental condition to determine the best solution for a damaged tooth. If a CEREC restoration is right for you, we will prepare your tooth for the process. This may involve getting rid of any decay or weakened tissue.
Next we will make an optical impression of the tooth using a digital camera scan. This scan is then converted into a 3 dimensional replica of the tooth so that a restoration can then be made. This step eliminates the needs for the clay-like impressions traditionally used.
Creation of the Restoration
The CEREC milling device is then be used to manufacture the customized restoration piece from the virtual model made in step 2. We will use a correctly colored ceramic block as our starting piece so that your restoration blends naturally with your tooth.
The restoration piece is then fitted to your mouth for a proper bite. Then it is polished and bonded to your tooth. This is the final step. No return visit will be necessary.
A State of the Art Technology
The advantages of the CEREC technology are numerous and have revolutionized modern dentistry. Backed by 25 years of research, CEREC one-visit tooth restoration is a clinically proven process that is more economical, less time-consuming, and results in stronger inlays & onlays, crowns, and veneers
Galileos 3d Imaging
3D Imagery for Accurate Treatment Plans
Three-dimensional imaging is the future of x-ray technology, and it is available now at SmileStudio. Traditional x-rays produce flat, one-dimensional images. A series of x-rays may be used to view a structure from multiple angles, but the information they provide is still quite limited. Additionally, the process is uncomfortable for patients, especially those with TJM problems.
GALILEOS 3D scanning is a simple and comfortable process, similar to taking a photograph. The process yields detailed, high-definition, 3D images with a wealth of visual data. Just one image allows the doctor to view the structure from all angles, and because it is digital, it can be enlarged as needed for optimal diagnostics.
Radiation Free Early Cavity Detection
Your Health Matters to Us.
At Smile Studio Dentistry, we are committed to protecting the overall health of our patients. At our practice, we offer radiation free cavity detection. The CariVu and DIAGNOdent systems detects early-developing cavities and cracks more precisely, for early treatment. Finding and filling cavities is an important part of how we care for our patients; finding problem areas earlier means the fillings are smaller and simpler. Our radiation free cavity detection processes give us the ability to monitor any areas of concern on an ongoing basis, without x-rays.
DEXIS CariVu is a high-tech cavity detection device that employs a patented light process. The light bathes the tooth, making enamel appear transparent. Problem areas are revealed as light is absorbed, appearing darker, much like an x-ray.
The CariVu system allows Dr. Ra to see “through” the tooth and quickly and accurately identify cavities and cracks in teeth while in the earliest stages. Smaller fillings preserve more of the tooth structure, and take less time in to treat, and less time in the dentist’s chair. CariVu is a safe, effective, radiation-free cavity detection method has proven to be effective in identifying areas of decay much earlier than the traditional, and less accurate methods of the past.
DIAGNOdent Laser Cavity Detection
The DIAGNOdent system is an advanced radiation-free diagnostic tool that can identify small cavities in their earliest stages. The device uses an low intensity illuminating laser. With the use of this high-tech cavity detection system, treatment can be concentrated on the targeted area, preserving more of the natural tooth structure. We want our patients to be comfortable and to spend as little time as possible in the chair. The DIAGNOdent system can help you avoid invasive dental treatments later, and is capable of locating any problem areas before they develop.
Holistic Dental Care at Smile Studio
Smile Studio Dentistry uses two different radiation-free cavity detection systems to better care for our patients. We are committed to using minimally invasive dental treatment plans, rather than radical treatments that can lead to further dental problems. Our radiation-free cavity detection systems are exceptionally effective in our effort to help patients to preserve the vitality and health of teeth, mouth, and gums.
At Smile Studio Dentistry, our approach is different. We use the latest advances in dental technology, far beyond the current norm. We take advantage of the latest materials and improvements in the dental arts, including effective, radiation free diagnostic procedures.
Isolite Dental Illumination & Isolation System
Happy patients spend less time in the dental chair with more comfort. That is why we use the Isolite System. This system has a soft and flexible mouthpiece to shield your tongue and cheek during procedures. It has a light to illuminate your mouth from the inside so treatments are shadowless and more efficient. AND it has a place for you to rest your jaw.
It also eliminates the need for cotton rolls and rinse breaks. All because your comfort is paramount, and we think you’ll especially appreciate the faster treatment times. Just come in and see!
Painless Dental Anesthesia
In the past, injections of dental anesthesia by others may have been uncomfortable. We recognize this and take extra care when preparing a patient for anesthetic. We use a topical anesthetic on your gums first to desensitize them and then use The Wand, a computer driven system, to administer the injection very slowly and precisely to create a truly comfortable experience.
Digital X-Rays, Magnification Loupes and Dental Microscopes
Digital x-rays are faster than conventional x-rays, and they are comfortable for you. They also aid us to accurately diagnose your oral health needs. All with up to 90% less radiation exposure. We employ digital imaging, as well, to show you how fabulous your new and improved smile could look, before treatment even begins. With no chemical processing needed, digital technology helps us do our part to keep the environment safe, too.
Dental Magnification Loupes and Dental Microscopes
Excellent dental care requires attention to detail and exacting precision. We must work in very small spaces and be accurate to a fraction of a millimeter. To help us, Dr. Ra and your hygienist use special prismatic magnification glasses, or "loupes." Dr. Ra also is one of the very few general dentist in the country to use dental microscopes for certain procedures.
